About insiderwatch.be

What is this?

insiderwatch.be tracks insider transactions reported to European financial regulators. Company executives, board members, and major shareholders are required by law to disclose their personal trades in company stock. This data is public but scattered across different regulatory websites. We aggregate and normalize it to make it easier to analyze.

Data Sources

Belgium FSMA (Financial Services and Markets Authority)
Netherlands AFM (Dutch Financial Services Authority)
France AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers)

Methodology

Included Transactions

  • Open market purchases (BUY)
  • Open market sales (SELL)
  • Only transactions with total value ≥ EUR 5,000

Excluded Transactions

  • Stock grants - Free shares, performance shares, RSUs
  • Option exercises - Exercising stock options or warrants
  • Gifts & donations - Transfers to family members or charities
  • Pledges - Using shares as collateral for loans
  • Subscriptions - Participating in capital increases
  • Dividend reinvestment - Receiving dividends as shares
  • Zero-price transfers - Internal transfers, estate distributions
  • Small transactions - Below EUR 5,000 threshold

Why These Filters?

We focus on voluntary open market transactions because these represent genuine investment decisions by insiders. Stock grants and option exercises are often part of compensation packages with predetermined timing. Pledges and gifts don't indicate market sentiment. The EUR 5,000 minimum filters out noise from small employee stock plan purchases.

Transaction Classification

Raw transaction descriptions vary by country and language. We normalize them to standard types:

BUY Aankoop, Acquisition, Verwerving, Koop
SELL Verkoop, Cession, Vervreemding
GRANT Attribution, Actions gratuites, Toekenning, Vesting
EXERCISE Uitoefening, Exercice, Levée de stock-options
OTHER Donation, Nantissement, Souscription, Pledge, etc.
